About Us

John Murphy, owner and operator of New River Transmission, is a master rebuilder with nearly 40 years experience in the automotive industry. John is an experienced Master Rebuilder, Master R&R Technician, and Master Automotive Technician. ASE Certified, ATSG Certified, ATRA Certified, and GM Certified — John can build a transmission blindfolded in under 20 minutes.

John is a USMC Veteran, is deeply involved in community service, and has 17 years of law enforcement experience. Stop by and meet John and the team and you will know why they are known as the best in the business.

New River Transmission is a family-owned business with wife Sally acting as the office manager. All the Murphys are USC alumni and Sally is also a graduate of the Citadel, the military college of SC. When she is not at NRT, she works on a team of research professionals caring for veterans with PTSD.
